Wendy was different; a woman who danced to her own tune. She was intelligent, quick witted, highly political, principled, selfless but above all she really cared about her family and friends and showed her love for us all in practical ways. She was like a sister to me and a fantastic support at times of loss. Since retiring to Filey she would make day trips visit me on the train and we would have coffee at Betty's [her favourite watering hole] followed by lunch at mine. We both really enjoyed those visits. I shall miss her terribly.

I came to England to see my family in 1992. My cousin Wendy and her husband Roy visited me with four dogs in tow. She would take them in rather than allow any animal to be put to sleep if she couldn’t find a home. Then again I visited in 2006 and have a beautiful photo of Wendy with Flossie (her beautiful King Charlie Cavalier) on her lap. She was an angel to the animals and still is. Bless her. Love Cathy (Australia)

After losing contact for many years, Wendy has been a massive support for me recently following the sudden death of my husband, Peter. She has phoned me regularly and I will miss her greatly. Susan
